Festival Event Sponsor

Orange Coast College, located in Costa Mesa just minutes from Southern California’s beautiful beaches, was founded in 1948 with an opening day enrollment of 500 students. In the years since, it has grown into one of the nation’s largest — and finest — community colleges, enrolling more than 28,000 students each semester. Featuring exceptional facilities and the latest in computer and high-tech equipment, OCC offers more than 130 academic and career programs, including one of the nation’s largest and most acclaimed public nautical programs. Nearly half the students on campus are enrolled in one of OCC’s career and technical programs.

Furthermore, Orange Coast College ranks first out of Orange County’s nine community colleges in the number of students it transfers to the University of California and California State University systems. Over the past decade, nearly 16,000 OCC students have transferred to UC and CSU campuses. Additionally, many Orange Coast students go on to transfer to private colleges and universities within California and across the nation. The college is fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

Festival Committee Chair Persons

Tina Crawford
Event Producer & Exhibitors

Tina is thrilled to be the Executive Producer and Exhibitor Coordinator for the Orange County Children’s Book Festival. Her background includes home schooling her four children all the way through high school, stage managing and assistant directing in community theaters, working behind the scenes at fashion shows, and helping others organize the chaos out of their lives. In 2017 she and her family moved from Portland Oregon down to Orange County where they are enjoying the sunny beaches and warm weather.

When asked what her favorite part is about the festival she said, “I love the variety of talented and amazing people we have participating in the book festival! That and watching the festival come together after all the coordination we’ve worked on in the previous months. I have a great team.”

Mike Kobrin
Main Stage Presentations

With more than 15 years in the trade show, conference and event coordination industry at CEC Global Events, Mike has extensive experience in organizing and managing events including venue sourcing, contract negotiations, vendor relations, event staffing and supervision, budgeting, floor plans, sourcing speakers, marketing, sponsorships, exhibitors, AV, travel, insurance, entertainment, F&B, scheduling, and related service providers.

Susan Delaney
Authors Corner

Susan Delaney is a second year of volunteer with the Orange County Children’s Book Festival.

As an energetic, retired High School English teacher from Eugene, Oregon, Susan found a second career as an Administrative Assistant in a Camp and Retreat Office in Portland, where she learned her way around a database. She recently moved to Orange County to be near her daughter and family.

Susan loves working with both people and computers, so when a friend suggested a volunteer position with the OC Children’s Book Festival, it was a perfect fit! She now coordinates the Authors Corner booths and authors.

The Authors Corner booths hold five different authors who share a space. These booths are perfect for new authors and/or first year exhibitors. Many authors start in an Authors Corner booth, then move up to a shared booth or their own booth in the following year.

Susan goes above and beyond to ensure her authors are well cared for — she responds to all authors’ inquiries before the Festival, assigns booths, and stays in touch right up to the day of the Festival to help ease any anxieties. She visits each Authors Corner booth during the Festival to make sure everything is running smoothly. And of course, she keeps a database of everything Authors Corner!

When asked to return as the Authors Corner coordinator, she quickly said “yes!” She feels honored to be a part of this amazing event, and we feel very lucky to have her.

Matt Honek

He did his pilot training in the Midwest, then lived out of a suitcase in places like Raleigh, Richmond, Puerto Rico and Tortola, before finally settling in southern California.

Matt has a beautiful wife and two young daughters. They read to their kids every night, including many great books purchased at previous Festivals.

In his role as grants coordinator, Matt is an initial point of contact for interested supporters. He is also available to answer questions and provide guidance in the lead up to the big day and make sure everyone has an enjoyable and memorable OCCBF experience.
